Why People Fail to Achieve a Healthy Lifestyle
Today, more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle. You can find a lot of advice in media and on health websites where you can learn how to live a healthy lifestyle, the kinds of healthy foods that you can eat and more info about this kind of lifestyle. Despite of these literature and all the warnings given to us, there are still a lot of people who fail in their attempt at becoming fit and healthy. We have received plenty of warnings of eating high-calorie diets and engaging in harmful behaviors, yet we still eat these foods and engage in these behaviors. It seems that people who have set their heart at doing the right things have found themselves unable to attain their goals. This indicates that achievivng a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do which is also evidenced by the increasing stress-related sicknesses that people experience today. Why are so many people failing to achieve a healthy lifestyle?
The influence of gratification is the main cause of this failure. We are people who are impatient to see results instead of waiting until we see one. People will choose an instant reward anytime if asked to decide between that or something that can be had in the future which is far better than the instant one. Even if the future reward is a better one, they can’t wait and will choose the instant one readily.
If you apply this to living a healthy lifestyle, you cannot really see its effects immediately, but you need to wait for a while for you to see the results in your body. You know that dieting and exercise is good for you if you are overweight, but then you will not attain the results immediately and when you think of the hunger that you will feel, or the tiredness of your body , and denying yourself of treats, then you immediately give up on your goals and be as you are. Because of the absence of immediate results, people stop dieting and exercising even though they know it is good for them. This is the reason why doing what is best you’re your health is so hard.
The best solution to this problem is to apply the element of instant gratification to your health plan. It is not really impossible to gain health benefits while laying aside instant gratification. There is no single solution to overcoming the problem of gratification perception. You can try some methods to do this. In your health plan, add a bit of instant gratification. If, then, you are able to achieve a health goal, do something to motivate yourself. These rewards can help you slowly achieve your goals.
Don’t ever reward yourself with food items. This can help you overcome the need for self gratification.
